Encounters of a Different Kind

Back to school, back to school (sung in fashion from the Billy Madison movie).  It’s that time of the year . . . store shelves are lined with notebooks, pens, calculators, glue . . . kids are trying to squeeze as many fun activities into the day as possible . . . parents are worrying about kids going to school—from the first day of kindergarten to the first day of college . . . it sure is a hectic season. 

To free your frenzied mind and to take a break from the chaos of back to school shopping, write a short story (creative non-fiction or fiction) about a person/animal/object that you may have met this summer.  Be sure to describe this person/animal/object in vivid details, and to tell how this encounter effected you.  Please keep it under 500 words, and remember to have fun while writing.
