Remodel Your Bathroom or Be a Character in Michael Chabon’s Next Novel?
by Shelley Bueche
For Joyce Gerali of Kansas, the decision was a no-brainer. To heck with the bathroom tile, it can wait. But a mere $6,000 to have a character named after her in Chabon’s novel, now that is worthwhile! Winning bid to name a rogue moon on a collision course with a doomed planet, or to name an exotic and gruesome disease of unknown origin, or perhaps naming an entire species of wise, ancient extraterrestrials? For $2,250 the winner was able to make his choice.
Proceeds for this unique fundraiser went to the First Amendment Project, bidders logged onto eBay during the month of September.
