A WriterOnLine Publication
My dear readers, The theme of this, our last issue of 2004, is taking stock. I normally have an aversion to revealing great gobs of personal information in this column, because, after all, this is YOUR ezine, not mine. But, for this issue I feel compelled to reveal a little something because it significantly relates to our theme as well as affects some of our content. On December 25, in the midst of her beloved, albeit small family, my mother unexpectedly passed away. This momentous life event is the catalyst for some significant stock taking for me. But this time of year and the transition from one year to another, has always been a time of reflection and inventory taking. With this theme, we express our encouragement and support for you in achieving your goals as you move from one year to the next. As this relates to content, in this issue there will be no puzzle! But I promise you, the puzzle, and the announcement of winners from last issue's puzzle, will be back in our next issue! This issue introduces yet another new columnist, and an absolute wizard for us writers! Eve Munsky joins us with her "Left Brain Essentials: Taking Stock of Your Financial Matters." This woman is a miracle worker when it comes to writers and taxes!! Commercial writing guru Peter Bowerman is back this issue with his piece, "Aluminum Siding Anyone?" With its clever play on words, Stephanie Olsen brings us her article "Staking Talk and Taking Stock: Assay on Errs," and Terrie Relf tells us what taking stock means to her in "Taking Stock, Ordered Chaos." Do you know what a curmudgeon is? Pam Beers will tell you all about it in her article, "The Curmudgeon Speaks." Christina Hamlett is here with her piece, "The Tao of 'No More, No Less.," and Regina Allen presents a detailed review of a writing seminar she recently attended in "Four Day Advanced Writing Seminar." Finally, Pam Beers is here with her unique views on industry news. But I cannot leave without pointing you to our contest this month. It really is quite astounding, so do read all about it. And so, before I take my leave, dear readers, I wish you a happy, peaceful, productive, and safe New Year! Keep that ink flowing and those keyboards a'clacking! My warm regards,
