Just When You Thought You Heard It All: Unotchit, Inc. (You No Touch It)

Acclaimed Canadian novelist, Margaret Atwood has come up with a unique approach to author signings. Both author and reader view each other over a video screen, the author signs the book, and the reader’s book is signed remotely by the “unotchit” device, replicating the author’s signature. The reader also gets a copy of the video clip.

Everyone thought it was a joke, but alas it is not. Ms. Atwood said the device is a “good thing” for readers who normally never see authors in the flesh anyway… especially those who live on mountaintops and far-away places.

The next thing you know, there will be a kissing machine that issues a piece of paper informing you that you’ve just been kissed by your favorite movie star.
