Gonzo With the Wind

Known for his biting essays and acerbic wit, one would expect no less a send-off from author Hunter Thompson than having his ashes fired from a cannon.  Thompson committed suicide on Sunday; February 20Th.  Previously he expressed a desire to have his ashes blown out of a cannon at his Colorado ranch as a fitting tribute. Thompson’s manner of death, whether or not it was indeed a suicide, is controversial at this stage, just as the author is himself!  He found fame after writing Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, a book later made into a movie, about a journalist and his attorney on a wild, drug-induced trip to Sin City.

Hunter Thompson was referred to as ‘Gonzo’ for his unique style of reporting.  Gonzo journalism, coined in the 60’s, is named for a style of first-hand reporting.  Gonzo was a counter-cultural hero who will sorely be missed.

As you might guess, Hunter Thompson’s books are now ‘hot’ again.  To check out the sales rankings for any published book, go to Amazon.com/books, click on any title and scroll down to check the rankings for that title.

Goodbye Gonzo, we’ll miss you!
