Ban Pop Ups and Chain Emails

by Pamala Baldwin

If I had to comment on anything insignificant, it would be two things relative to technology. First, kill the crop of Internet pop-ups—they're maddening! I call for a crusade to ban the stupid things.

Second, I wish someone somewhere would realize that any e-mail that gets passed around is irritating, and even though dear friends believe that we all have time to chuckle about a cleverly scripted riddle or heart-rendering story, some of us actually feel like throwing a shoe at the computer screen.

I wish we could hang a virtual DO NOT DISTURB sign out for all who even THINK of sending a senseless passalong e-mail. I demand respect for my office—my computer control center, if you will—and resist and resent any intrusion. Please, please do not send stupid mail. All mail is stupid if it distracts from the job at hand. There. I've stated my case and I'm sticking to it!
