Do you ever get a holiday card or look at a bumper sticker and say, “I could do a better job than that!”

Well, here's your chance. I've gathered together 11 markets for greeting cards, buttons, etc. While the pay rates and guidelines are somewhat vague, be sure to check out the company websites and also send a return postcard with submissions.

Think mushy, cute, sentimental. These greeting cards are written in the typical fashion with non-rhyming verse. They ask for submissions to be typewritten, with one poem per page, and contact info. on each submission as well.

Pays $300 for the first work chosen for publication on a card (payment scale escalates after that); $50 for anthology rights

This company is looking for unrhymed poetry. They make framed prints with your message in calligraphy for special occasions. The buyers of these products are usually women ages 20-50. When submitting a piece, it should be written for a special occasion but not directly mention it (wedding pieces without the word wedding, etc.). Maximum 3 ideas per batch.

Pays $75-200/framed print idea.

On the postcard, put a list of your ideas with checkboxes (very interested, somewhat, not at all, etc.) to allow the company to let you know what they like or do not like. They already use freelance designers.
