His Career Has Gone to the Dogs—Literally

Well-known young adult novel writer Gary Paulsen (“Hatchet,” “Dog Song”) recently moved to Alaska to mush in the winter, write in the summer.  Now, that’s a schedule I like.  Paulsen summarizes the move by stating: “Where else could I go to do what I want to do, run dogs and live in the bush?  With dogs, you are never alone.”  Ruth Paulsen, Gary’s wife, meanwhile is staying put at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
