How Many Pieces of Chicken in That 10-Piece Box?

The above is from a conversation in a small book—Idiots at Work.

Customer:  How many pieces of chicken are in that 10-piece box?

Employee:  There are 10 pieces of chicken in that 10-piece box.

Customer:  Well, is there any white meat in that?

Employee:  A 10-piece is normally a breast, 2 ribs, 2 wings, a thigh and 3 legs.  It’s half and half.

Customer:  Well, how many pieces are in the 15-piece box?

These short books, by Andrews McMeel publishing, are greeting cards on steroids, a form of entertainment and they are inexpensive to produce.  Chris Schilling, editorial director for McMeel publishers, says that “Your generation (not mine) is responsible for witnessing the death of narrative.  You guys read bites—short bits of text, quotes that are 2 or 3 lines.”  Perfect for capturing the readers’ short attention span.

Now, onto the next news story.
