postings every day…. Just devote a couple or more hours every day, and
you'll find markets too!
(Of course, if you'd rather spend your time writing or sending queries – or
cashing your checks! – or maybe reading to your kids or painting your
toenails--yes, that's for you, Mark, and I know you do--at about 3¢ a
market, you can't do better than our JustMarkets service.)
Now for this week's issue of Writer Online Markets: from radio to theater,
from newspapers to literary journals, there are markets and editors out there
waiting just for you
As always, good writing!
Stephanie Olsen
Markets Editor
P.S. What a nice gift a year's subscription
to Just Markets makes!
Your writer friend could benefit from the fastest markets online, saving countless
hours of searching and scrounging all over the internet for paying freelance
markets for writers.
CBC Radio - Outfront
Outfront is the show where you get to make radio. Where you get to tell your
story or the story of someone you know.
In other words: Your stories, your radio show.
So, how do you get on Outfront? Simple. Send us your story idea! If we accept
it, we'll set you up with recording equipment and teach you how to use it.
Remember, we're a documentary radio show. We’re not print-on-air. We don’t
do readings. We’re not the right place for essays or opinion pieces, for
memoirs or fiction.
For a ten-minute piece we pay between $550 and $675. For a full 14-minute program
we pay between $750 and $950.
Guidelines: http://www.cbc.ca/outfront/contribute/
Washington City Paper
The paper's greatest single need is for well-reported stories about the city,
which includes (but is not limited to) profiles, investigative pieces, “Talk
of the Town”-type articles, and stories about local institutions. We're
not interested in Op-Ed material, fiction, poetry, stories about news conferences
or demonstrations, or service journalism about 12 great places to get espresso
after midnight.
Base rate 10 cents/word, first rights, paid one week after publication.

Experienced Editor
Telecommute
I'm a small one woman operation who needs an e-book edited as well as
a monthly ezine.
My style is casual, yet businesslike & I talk to my customers, not
at them while still trying to engage them. I'm seeking an experienced
editor who is reasonably priced & has at least 1-2 yrs. editing experience.
I'm looking for someone who can edit for my casual down to earth style.
Please no stuffy conservatives.
Besides the obvious spelling & grammatical errors that need correcting,
I am seeking someone who is really good at re-constructing flow by moving
paragraphs around (if need be) & can
also tell right away if one point has been repeated too many times. I'm not
looking for someone to totally rewrite my every word or change my style unless
some parts are really horrendous.
I currently work on Word Perfect 6.1, but you editing in Word is fine
by me so long as you can open my WP documents.
As far as personality, I need someone who is down to earth, a nice respectful
person & has a great sense of humour. Is also a seriously HARD worker,
does what they say they will, has a great work ethic, works in a speedy
manner, likes challenges, doesn't have to be Micro Managed or chased & is
VERY HONEST. I need you to listen well plus be able to communicate both
the positives & the negatives to me, so there is a constant positive
flow of communication.
This is a short term contract starting almost immediately, so if you
are too busy or are working full time somewhere else then this job isn't
for you.
The ezines need to be edited around 1 hour per month & that will
be ongoing.
There may be other e-books in the future that need to be edited & I'd
like to build an ongoing trusting relationship.
I prefer someone in Toronto or the surrounding areas, but will consider
someone with the right fit anywhere across North America if they can
call me on the phone at least once every few days & can IM daily
or every other day.
Please detail your experience, where you are located & rate expectations.
