Exploding Toads?

Did I read that correctly?  True, it does sound like science fiction, but apparently in Northern Germany some toads have been exposed to a possible virus that causes them to swell to 3 ˝ times their normal weight, then explode, frequently at night when no one is watching.  And if that is not enough for you to think about and visualize, scientists say that the entrails from these toads are propelled as far as 3 feet!  I think I’m getting the picture now.
