A Plethora of Riches: Brown, Goldsman, Hanks, and Howard

In alphabetical order, the talents of author, Dan Brown; screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman; actor, Tom Hanks; and director, Ron Howard will be pooled together into a movie slated for release on May 19, 2006. The name of the movie is The DaVinci Code, authored by Dan Brown, and on the bestseller list since 2003. It will directed by Ron Howard from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, both of whom took home Oscars for “A Beautiful Mind.” Tom Hanks plays the lead as scholar, Robert Langdon.

The DaVinci Code has over 20 million copies in print worldwide and has been translated into 42 different languages. The potential that exists through this collaboration of material and talent is extraordinary. With Akiva’s talent as a screenwriter and the star magnitude of Tom Hanks, Ron Howard couldn’t be happier.

Ron Howard will always be little Ronnie Howard to me, playing “Opie” on the AndyGriffith Show. It’s a strong possibility that one day, during the month of May you’ll find me at the cinema enjoying The DaVinci Code with all its remarkable talent. During the credits I’ll reminisce about the good old days as I think about “Opie” and the rural town of Mayberry. You’ve come a long way, Ron Howard.
