Celebrating the 4th of July in Style
By Shelley Bueche
From coast to coast, Americans will be celebrating in style, this 4th of July. Consider these festivities:
In Oatman, Arizona, you can attend the Oatman Sidewalk Egg Frying contest and even see an old West gunfight (a reenactment, I presume) at High noon on historic Route 66.
Or mosey over to Kenwood, California, to participate in the World Pillow Fighting Championship. Contestants battle with feather pillows until someone lands in the mud. Now that sounds like fun . . . to watch!
Running from the Bulls, July 3rd through the 6th, in Elko, Nevada. Bulls are released into the downtown streets of Elko, behind a group of runners.
As for me? I’ll be racing hermit crabs in South Padre Island, the tip of Texas!

If you really want to witness a burst of American pride on the 4th, consider flying to France in July to see Lance Armstrong go for his 7th historic win at the Tour de France. Go Lance!!!
