Why Did the Chicken Jaywalk?  He Wasn’t Aware of the Law!

Well, he really shouldn’t have, but he did!  And he, or was that she, was fined $54 in Kern County, California for doing just that.  An attorney for the chicken’s owners (you didn’t think the chicken had his own attorney, did you?) argued that the chicken was domesticated and not to be considered “livestock.”  For it is illegal in California for livestock to cross highways.  Err, what about chickens that jaywalk and do not cross roads at the crosswalk?
