Not Your Grandfather’s Olympics!

by  Shelley Bueche

In its 10th year, in middle Georgia, are the Redneck Games.  What started as a spoof to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, is now a much anticipated frenzy of fun.  With a propane torch lighting a BBQ grill, the games officially begin.

There’s mud pit flopping, armpit serenading (I’m practicing for this one—the 2000 winner played a rendition of ‘Dixie’), hub cap hurling and bobbing for pig’s feet.

This mid-July event was expected to host over 15,000 people.  Start planning for 2006 by getting your toilet seat ready for hurling in the competition!  You just might win a trophy with a crushed Bud Lite can on top to add to your collection.
