Red Rover, Red Rover, Let My Attorney Come Over

by Shelley Bueche

Jeffrey Kent Levine, owner and publisher of the Pet Gazette, lost his best friend Rudy, just after Christmas in 2002.  Levine, said that Rudy’s vet, Gary Edlin, mistreated Rudy his Golden Retriever, who had a pulled tendon.  Rudy was named the plaintiff in the case.   Levine said “the suit wasn’t about the money.  Property doesn’t love you back.  I can love my car but my car will never love me …  Pets love you back.”

Just when you thought your best friend, right at your side, was dreaming of fetching a tennis ball and going for a romp in the park.  But, oh no!  They might be dreaming dollar signs and figuring out ways to find the best attorneys in the yellow pages!
